DRIFT

DRIFT

From the home plate comes a new home run!

we hav'nt held any large races on this concept usually 4-6 cars

Qualifying time trials (quickest time = position) this is done 1 car at a time , standings after trials are for entire day or event , QTT can be done day before races if desired.Races are in sets this allows winners to pit out well another set goes , for cool down , charge up etc ,

drivers are given standing # P1 ~ # of cars

Race 1

P1 vs P6 (last car in standings)

winner takes pit lanes prep and moves on to next heat , (not sure what to do with the second place guy yet)

race2 new set

P2 vs P(_)

Race1 (second heat)

winner vs P(_) next up from bottom

Race2 (second heat)

the overall goal is to be the winner of your race , 1 or 2 , end of the day or event winners from both will have a final race to determine overall winner.

we have had a few negative responses to our idea , such as points , who races who and all that , but really when it comes to race day , the event goes well if everyone involved just listens to the officials , watches the standings and , and trys to understand that your way may not be the way these races work , all in all everyone has fun , few new comers that have taken in , say its like tokyo drift baja style , the heats are fast , the standings change quick and when you take first and the end of the event you go home feeling good , the QTT standings is very fair , takes awhile to get your standing number (we're working on it) but once you know where you are in line the day goes quick.

The possiblitys are endless

we're sticking to a single diamond for our events , but we welcome any club that wants to try this out to go ahead , we dont have what it takes just yet to hold a multi diamond , 3 day event with 50 or so racers , we have a hard enough time dealing with a 6 - 12 driver event over 2 days.

if you do decide to host a sandlot drifting event , be sure to invite us !

we are always welcoming new drivers to our events email laughs_2004@hotmail.com for more info .. please include subject line : Sand Lot

Standard Diamond

Drivers Tip !

Practice practice practice , find an out of the way diamond and set up a stop watch , 5 laps per heat , get your time down !

Track Layout

The Blue circles are free drift zones , maintaining control in these corners is the whole concept behind the game!

Each completed zone goes towards overall points

Red line: Is the out of bound zone , crossing this line 5 second time penalty

Yellow line: outter boundry , crossing this line , 3 second time penalty

green: course boundry , out of bounds and will put you into pit row for remainder of the race
